The
Poway New Car Dealers, Representing 15 Brands Of New Vehicles Off The
15 Freeway, have been holding meetings this month with the City of Poway
to discuss the proposed Town Center project with the agencies who planning
to develop this area near downtown. Dena Fuentes, Director, Redevelopment
Services presented the outline and requested that the business owners,
employees and residents attend the future meetings to discuss these
Poway proposed changes. Dena Fuentes said, “Since Poway doesn’t
have a Planning Commission, things sometimes work better in our city.”
Mark
Abelkop, Poway Hyundai/Mitsubishi said it sounds like an interesting
proposal.
Steve
Hinkle, Poway Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep said, “I like the idea of a
creek through the city.”
Mark
Lind, Poway Chevy agreed, “Where I live in Murietta, we just did
something like this called ‘Old Town.’”
The
Poway Road of Cars was formed in 1989 to foster business and goodwill
among the New Car Dealers of Poway. Combined, the dealers annually contribute
more than $2.5 million dollars to the sales tax in Poway. This is the
largest share of any industry, about 25% of all sales taxes collected.
These sales tax dollars help to provide for many civic improvements
for the City of Poway. They also provide hundreds of thousands in dollars
in donated community services and to education each year.

Dealers
Plan Summer Ad Campaign
Poway
Road of Cars association is launching a new ad campaign this month focusing
on the “Trade In Days” in Poway. It’s a fact that
dealers pay more for trade ins in Poway, so they are encouraging all
San Diegans to trade in here. Ads will be on TV and Radio through the
summer, focused on giving back to the community in the form of cash
for their trade ins. In addition to giving back more, Poway is close
to most of our region, so people drive less and save time and money
making their cash work for them.
Dealers Meet in Poway Chamber offices
Poway
Road of Car Dealers meet monthly to discuss Advertising and Marketing
Campaigns. Here is a photo from a recent meeting, where we considered
using mobile truck advertising for our branding.
Dealers Meet New City Manager
Poway
Dealers had lunch with the new City Manager, Rod Gould, recently, to
discuss issues that affect the business community. One of the topics
discussed was the experience Mr. Gould had in other cities with auto
dealerships and associations like the Poway Road of Cars.

The
Poway Road of Cars represents all of the New Car Dealers in Poway. Every
car dealer in the City of Poway is a member of this organization, originally
formed in the mid 1990’s by Dwight Ritchie. Although some of the
dealerships have changed names over the past fifteen years, they still
bring to the city a local pride and commitment to doing business in
the Poway way.
Each
and every month, more than 1,000 vehicles are sold by these dealerships.
Every car sold represents a sales tax revenue increase for the City
of Poway, helping to provide the needed infrastructure to the community.
